The JSU Art Department invites you to attend the annual Faculty Show for Fall 2018. Our art department Faculty members have submitted their current works for display. Please join us for an opening reception and refreshments on Thursday, October 4th, from 5-7pm in our main Hammond Hall Gallery. The show will be on display until October 15th, along with our guest artist, Mark Bueno, in our roundhouse gallery with his show Ghost Lights.
Mark Bueno uses an array of visual references, mediums, and techniques to convey his interpretation of the human experience. Generally, his work addresses subjects like the perceptions of beauty in the everyday, identity or lack of, subcultures within pop culture, mythology, spirituality, the paranormal, and comic relief. By using bold color and complex compositions, my work communicates exuberance for life. The work often reflects my ability to connect with others and my passion to fuse art with social events, live performances, and public spaces.
Mark Bueno was born in San Antonio, Texas 1975. He received a Bachelor in Fine Art and Art History at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Mark Bueno lives in Denver, Colorado where he continues to paint, curate, mural, sculpt, and body paint. Mark Bueno has traveled and exhibited nationally/internationally incorporating his life experiences into his work.
JSU students, faculty, and the general public are invited to the opening reception of the Faculty Show and Ghost Lights on Thursday, October 4th from 5:00 -7:00 pm. The exhibition will be on view until October 18th.
