The JSU Art Department thanks artist Frank Hamrick for his tintype exhibition: “Sometimes Rivers Flow Backwards.” Following the exhibition, Frank gave a lecture and hosted a wet-plate collodion tintype workshop in Carlisle Hall where faculty and students witnessed first-hand the tintype process.

ASSEMBLAGE: Works by Sarah Cusimano Miles and Jamie Runnels are featured in the Hammond Hall Gallery with an October 9 opening reception. New faculty Chad Anderson will have work displayed in the Roundhouse.
Exhibition at the Hammond Hall Gallery at Jacksonville State University by artist and JSU alumnus Mario Gallardo. The exhibition “Tiny Deaths” opened with a reception on September 4 and ran through September 25. Works on display included a series of photograms made from human ashes, found art sculptures, ceramic installations and more.

This may the Department of Art graduated its first MFA in Visual Communication Design, Susan Robertson. Susan’s thesis was based around design pedagogy and featured the design investigation method. Her exhibition presented interactive situations that utilized the investigation method and demonstrated how these design problems could be solved.
