What is art history? The study of visual images, material objects, and built environments in historical contexts. If you choose art history at JSU, you may choose from a variety of concentrations and course offerings.
The art history plan of study includes general studies, art core, 27 hours of 300-400 art history, 6 hours of foreign language, senior seminar and capstone project, and a minor area of study. Students in their last semester complete a senior seminar and capstone research paper. There are art history career and academic opportunities in museums, galleries, graduate study, academia, libraries, archives, historic preservation, conservation, administration, and more!
