Interested in studying abroad to Ireland or England in Summer 2020?
To learn more about these two exciting classes, attend this Friday’s interest session from 2-3pm in the Round House. All students are eligible, and there are no prerequisites for undergraduate students!
—-“Celtic Heritage to Irish Nationalism: Reading the Irish Landscape in Art and Architecture” (ART 399 and ART 680, Undergraduate/Honors/Graduate)—-
**Art history professor Dr. Springer is teaching this exciting class on site in Dublin, Belfast, Derry, Sligo, and Galway. Learn about how artists and architects translated the Ireland’s sublime landscape in sculpture, manuscripts, paintings, gardens, and architecture from ancient times to the 20thcentury. Readings about the history of landscape and art in Ireland will inform visits to museums in Dublin and Belfast, gardens and parks, ruined abbeys and monasteries, the Cliffs of Moher, the Giant’s Causeway, and the bogs of Connemara.
**Credit: Need a gen ed? ART 399 may be substituted for your required fine arts elective (ART 202: Art Appreciation only). This course also counts as an upper-level art history (includes honors and graduate sections).
—-“The Magical World of Harry Potter” (EH 399, Undergraduate/Honors)—-
**On site in London and nearby cities, English instructor Mica Mecham is teaching an entire course on the Harry Potter series! Students will critically examine the books while exploring popular locales and iconic film settings, including the Harry Potter Studio Tour, Snape’s Dungeon in Lacock, and the Hogwarts Library in Oxford.
**Credit: Counts as an upper-level English course, and EH 399 also has an honors section!
